Purpose and Criteria
Mission
The purpose of this organization shall be to honor, preserve, and perpetuate the names and accomplishments of outstanding athletes and other sports personalities who are native to Madison County or who have lived and competed in Madison County for a period of ten (10) years, and have not been an active player for five (5) years, except in lifetime activity sports.
Criteria
Selection of such honorees shall be limited to no more than five (5) person each year and may include no more than two (2) deceased members each calendar year. Inductees are selected from nominations solicited from the public.
Student Scholarships
The Jackson-Madison County Scholarship Foundation seeks to assist selected Madison County seniors with college expenses. The purpose of the scholarships is to recognize athletes for their academic achievements, community service, and leadership abilities.
Special consideration is given to students not receiving other forms of financial aid. Since 2005, the foundation and its partners have awarded over $110,000 in scholarships.
